Geraldine D. "Gerry" (Davis) Funkhouser

YORK- Geraldine “Gerry” D. (Davis) Funkhouser, 90, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her residence. She was the wife of Hobart T. Funkhouser to whom she was married for 70 years.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with her pastor, the Reverend Melinda M. LaMontagne, PhD officiating. A visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Rose cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Born on December 15, 1933 in York, she was the daughter of the late Ray G. and Hazel P. (Baker) Davis. Gerry started work in the accounting department at New York Wire then was employed at West York School District as a teacher’s aide and finally at Hess’s Department Store as a manager in the China Department.

Mrs. Funkhouser was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and most recently at Shiloh U.C.C. She was president of her West York High School Class of 1952 and a member of the York Hospital Fete Committee.

Along with her husband, Hobart, Gerry is survived by two sons, David B. Funkhouser and his wife, Julie L. Wambaugh of Salt Lake City, UT and Brian S. Funkhouser and his wife, Peg of Dover; three grandchildren, Kevin Funkhouser and his wife, Kelly of Glastonbury, CT, Emily Kramer and her husband, Tom of York and Ann Hied and her husband, Chris of Shrewsbury; and five great grandchildren, Ryan Kramer, Andrew Kramer, Bryson Hied, Eleanor Hied and Madison Hied.
