DILLSBURG – Gerald W. Myers, 80, died Friday, July 1, 2011 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Charmaine L. (Dennis) Myers to whom he was married 58 years on June 27th of this year. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 5th, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Thursday, July 7th at 11 a.m. Mr. Myers was born October 29, 1930 in Thomasville. He was a son of the late Harry Maxwell and Dora P. (Gross) Myers. He was a member of Monaghan Presbyterian Church in Dillsburg. Mr. Myers worked for Keystone Weaving Mills, Inc. for 47 years, where he retired as assistant superintendent. Mr. Myers was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post #0791 and Goodwill Fire Company in Jacobus as a fire policeman. He was an avid hunter and deep sea fisherman who also loved to camp. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the rest of his family. Mr. Myers proudly served our country in the US Air Force from 1949 to 1950 during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, Mr. Myers is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Sweitzer and husband Blaine of Dover and Donna Lee Ferree and husband Randy of Dover; 5 grandchildren, Matthew William Sweitzer and wife Angela of Dover, Amanda C. Nolan and husband Sean of York, Mitchell David Sweitzer of York, Vanessa Marie Marshall and husband Garland of Jacobus and Derrick Scot Ferree of California; 5 great-grandchildren, Alexander Matthew and Kathlynn Angela Sweitzer, Natalie Ryann and Isabella Reese Nolan, and a future great-grandson Marshall; one brother, Luther Myers; two sisters, Marguerite Lochman and Doris Hengst; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Larry Myers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy scouts of America: New Birth of Freedom Council, 1 Baden Powell Ln., Mechanicsburg, PA, 17050 or The American Lung Association National Headquarters, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington D.C. 20004.
