TROY- Gerald S. Whitlock, 87, of Sylvania, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Bradford County Manor. He was the loving husband of Mary Belle (Inman) Whitlock. The couple married in 1944 and had over 67 happy years together. Gerald was born on September 6, 1924 in Sylvania, PA, son of the late Morris and Mabel (Smith) Whitlock. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps, where he flew B-24’s delivering cargo to New Guinea. After the war Gerald flew large jetliners from New York to Los Angeles and back for United Airways. He retired from United in 1985 after a long career of 35 years. Gerald was a member of the Olde Covert Church on Armenia Mountain and was a member of the Troy American Legion Post #49. He also enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, and working around his home on Gobbler’s Knob. Gerald is survived by his wife Mary Belle and his son Timothy Whitlock, both of Sylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Daniel Whitlock who passed away in 1980, and his sister Lois Packard. A memorial service to honor Gerald’s life will be held at a later date. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with arrangements. Mary Belle and Tim would like to thank all the people at the Bradford County Manor for the exceptional care Gerald received there.
