Gerald R. "Zeak" Patterson

RED LION - Gerald R. “Zeak” Patterson, 83, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services-Dallastown. He was the husband of Hazel J. (Naylor) Patterson to whom he was married 57 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with Pastor David Kominsky officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born May 16, 1933 in North Hopewell Township, Gerald was a son of the late Preston and Annabelle (Epply) Patterson. Following high school Gerald worked at Davey Products until entering the service. Mr. Patterson served our country with the Second Army Division in Germany as a medic. After returning home from the service, Gerald went on to work for 40 years at the former Superior Mold Builders, now Key Plastics. He started out as a floor supervisor and then as an estimator until his retirement in December 1999. Mr. Patterson was a lifetime member of the VFW, the National Wildlife Association, and the American Rhododendron Society. He was also a member of Zion United Methodist Church, and the American Pigeon Association. Along with his wife, Hazel, Mr. Patterson is survived by two sons, Sheldon R. Patterson and his wife Kim of York, and LaVerte S. Patterson of Shillington; two daughters, Sheila L. Patterson and her husband Claire, Jr. of Winterstown, and Lesia K. Goss of Red Lion; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a son, Ashley Patterson; a grandson, Zebariah Patterson, and four brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Bruce and Royce Patterson.
