Gerald R. Seltzer, Sr.

Pottsville- Gerald R. Seltzer, Sr., 80, of Pottsville passed away Saturday morning at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. Born in Orwigsburg on November 2, 1930 he was a son of the late Ralph W., Sr. and Minnie Rarick Seltzer. Following high school, Gerald served in the Army as a staff sergeant in combat engineers during the Korean War. Gerald worked for Berks Products, Reading early on in his career. He then worked for Feeser Contracting, Schuylkill Haven for 25 years. He retired from Lehigh Valley Dairy after 10 years of service. Gerald was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, Pottsville. He was a lifetime member of DAV, member of the Teamsters and the Operating Engineer Union. He was an avid golfer and member of the Mountain Valley Senior Golf League. He was a hand radio operator, known as N3AMC. He was also an avid deer hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gerald R. Seltzer, Jr.; his sister, Marie Fulmer. Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean M. Frew Seltzer, of Pottsville; his daughter, Patricia Seiberling, wife of Tom, of Frackville; his three grandchildren, Brian Seberling, husband of Amy, Mark Seiberling and Christopher Seltzer, husband of Tia; his 5 great grandchildren, Abbey, Kylie, Mason, Hudson and Ava; his brother, Ralph W. Seltzer, Jr., husband of Dolores, of New Ringgold; his sister, Phyllis Toback, wife of Simon, of Orwigsburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & West Market Sts., Pottsville. Father John Little will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville.
