NORTH HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP- Gerald L. Mitzel, 87, of Red Lion was born April 23, 1923, entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. He was the husband of Mildred (Hoffnagle) Mitzel with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Dallastown he was the son of the late Sophia (Anderson) and George W. Mitzel. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired from Teledyne Readco as shipping and receiving Foreman after 45 years of service. He was a member of Winterstown United Methodist Church, Red Lion Masonic Lodge, Red Lion VFW and Red Lion American Legion. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Mitzel is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Myers and her husband James of Rinely and Debra L. Burke and her husband Randy of Red Lion; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son A2C Lonny L. Mitzel who served and died in Vietnam. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Winterstown United Methodist Church, 12184 Winterstown Rd., Felton, PA 17322.
