Gerald L. Harris, Sr.

WILLIAMSPORT- Gerald L. Harris, Sr., 87, of Williamsport, PA, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Manor Care Health Systems-North. He was the loving husband of the late Lillian B. (Fuller) Harris, who passed away on May 22, 2007. The couple had 60 happy years together. Gerald was born on February 18, 1922 in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Clarence and Pearl (Jennings) Harris. He was a former member and custodian of the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport, and is currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamsport. He enjoyed going to church, woodworking, upholstering, watching TV, and gardening. The loves of his life were his wife and family; he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping friends and neighbors in their times of need. Gerald is survived by his son David G. (Terry) Harris of Jersey Shore, PA, his daughters: Shirley M. (George) Cartwright of Allentown, PA, Ann M. (Gary) Burley of Williamsport, PA, and Ginger R. (Roy) Smith of Jackson, NJ, 8 grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Lillian, his son Gerald L. Harris, Jr. who passed away in 1948, and his sister Lucille Long. Funeral services are private and at the convenience of Gerald's family. The Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport has been entrusted with the arrangements.
