LOWER WINDSOR TOWNSHIP- Gerald L. Bortner, 73, of Windsor, passed away, Friday, November 26, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with renal cell cancer. He was the husband of Dawn M. (Oberdorff) Bortner to whom he was married 53 years. A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. His nephew, Pastor Steven Schmuck will be officiating at the service. Mr. Bortner was born in Lower Windsor Township on July 7, 1937, a son of the late Delmar and Annie (Mundis) Bortner. He was a truck driver most of his life. Mr. Bortner was a life member of Early American Steam Engine Society. He loved to ride his motorcycle and loved the outdoors with his tractors, and working with his young grandson, Travis. He loved his little dog Toby and going to the mountains in Clinton County and the Smokey Mountains. Along with his wife, Mr. Bortner leaves his daughter Kathy Arnold and her husband Butch of Windsor; two sons, Keith and Kevin Bortner, both of Windsor, his grandchildren, and three sisters, Elsie Craley of Hallam, Margaret Grove of York, and Bertha McAlister of Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Home Health and Hospice, 540 S. George Street, York, PA 17401
