Gerald H. Dix, 83, of Owego, NY passed through the gates of Heaven on Sunday, July 20, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born in Horseheads, NY the son of the late Charles J. and Dora (Vickery) Dix on June 29, 1925. Mr. Dix was a man of many trades. He was best known as an operating engineer and worked on many construction sites in the area. He was a man with a great smile and sense of humor. He was a friend to many, and his conversations of life experiences will be missed by all. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid sportsman who loved to fish and hunt. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister; Eleanore Dix, Julia Dix Grover and Alda Dix Gee, his brothers Charles T. Dix and Earl Dix, and a niece Beverly Gee Keater. His life companion Bernice Marsh also preceded him in death. He is survived by his nieces; Margaret Carriagan of Elmira, NY, Diane Belknap of Elmira Heights, NY, Carol (Robert) Hawley of Arizona, Phyllis (Jim) Robbins of Pine Valley, NY, Joanne (Ed) Fish of Alpine, NY and Amanda Bolt of Millerton, PA, his nephews; William (Jo Ann) Grover, Jr. of Painted Post, NY, Charles (Debi) Grover of Sayre, PA, and Jonathan (Sharon) Grover of Corning, NY, many great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Family and friends are welcome to call from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. The funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Elwin and Rev. Marion Brown officiating. Burial will be in Chemung Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Flowers will be provided by the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald's name to Lourdes Hospice, 596 5th Ave Owego, NY 13827. Praise The Lord, Hallelujah, Amen-
