MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Gerald E. “Jerry” Rohrbaugh, 78, of York, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Joyce B. (Olewiler) Arvin Rohrbaugh. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 6-7p.m. His granddaughter, Vanessa Smeltzer will be officiating at the service. Mr. Rohrbaugh was born in York on November 18, 1934, the son of the late Carl and Grace (Brenneman) Rohrbaugh. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott E. Rohrbaugh and three brothers, Lavern, Gordon, and Carson and his sister, Nancy Stewart. He retired in 1996 from the York City Fire Department, where he was a fire fighter for 38 years. He also owned and operated G.E. Rohrbaugh Painting Company for 20 years. Mr. Rohrbaugh was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in York. He was a 1953 graduate of William Penn Senior High. He was a past president and a member of Local 627 International Association of Firefighters, was a member of York Professional Retired Firefighters Association, York Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Association, Loyal Order of Moose #1526 of Gettysburg, and Seven Mountain Blue Grass Association. He was a life member of both Hawk’s Gunning Club and Goodwill #5 Fire Company of York. He was also a member of the former Goodwill Fire Company Drum and Bugle Corps, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the former York C.B. Assistance Club. He was a Civil War Buff, enjoyed blue grass music, and enjoyed crafting wooden bird mobiles and his afternoon naps with his great grand dog, Oliver. Mr. Rohrbaugh leaves a son, Jerry Rohrbaugh of York; two daughters, Debra Ide and her husband, William of Dover and Kelly Horn and her husband J. Andrew of York; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Rohrbaugh and his wife Dee of Tucson, AZ and David Rohrbaugh and his wife Isabel of York; and three stepchildren, Debra Campbell and her husband Richard of York, Sharon Shue and her husband Bryan of Brogue, and Susan Daugherty and her husband Glen of Brogue and three step grandchildren.
