Georgios A. Skilaris

YORK—Georgios A. Skilaris, 81, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Eleni G. (Skanias) Skilaris to whom he was married for 48 years. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Pine Grove Rd, York. Officiating the service will be Father Andrew Tsikitas. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born April 19, 1940 in St. Demetrios, Greece, he was a son of the late Alexander P. and Evangeline A. (Zoe) Skilaris. He was employed in the restaurant business, working with several local area Greek restaurants throughout his career. A member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, he enjoyed assisting at the church food festivals, walking, vegetable gardening and traveling. As a young man, before coming to the United States he served for several years in the Hellenic Army (Greek Army). In addition to his wife, Mr. Skilaris is also survived by three daughters, Evangeline “Angie” Helwig and her husband, Troy of York, Aikaterine “Kathie” Skilaris of York and Alexandera Skilaris of York.
