Georgine Marie Hands

YORK – Georgine Marie (Kulazewicz) Hands, 91, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at her home.

Mrs. Hands was born on July 4, 1932 in Roseau, Minnesota, a daughter of the late Francis D. and Beulah Julia (Hagen) Kulazewicz. She will forever be remembered as the family cook and was known by everyone as “Dollie” or “Nana”. Dollie had many friends and excelled at and loved playing bridge. She also readily admitted to her strong sense of independence and her Norwegian feistiness and stubbornness! Georgine was a great military wife who enjoyed living in many different locations.

Mrs. Hands is survived by a daughter, Pamela K. Gouws of West River, MD; a son, David M. Hands of Silver Springs, MD; seven grandchildren, Chantell Gouws, Traci (Speake) Olson, Tanya (Gouws) Salinas, Brooke Speake-Wambold, Carly Stavely, Keaton Stavely, and Michael Hands; five great grandchildren; and her loving nieces and nephews in Minnesota. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Speake Stavely; a sister, Francine Shelton; and a brother, Lloyd Kulazewicz.

Tribute services will be private with burial in Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, Minnesota. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
