POTTSVILLE- George R. Meyer, 64, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday morning at home. Born in Pottsville on September 7, 1946, he was a son of the late George J. and Alma L. Shadle Meyer. George was a 1964 graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Pottsville. He later attended IBM School, St. Louis, MO. George was a line crew leader for PPL, where he has worked for the past 46 years. He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church, Pottsville. He was a member of Yorkville Hose Co., Pottsville. Georges family meant the world to him. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Davis, who passed away May 20, 2010. George is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Jean M. Stock Meyer, Pottsville; his three daughters, Melissa Lucas, of Harrisburg, Dr. Michelle Meyer, wife of Brandon Martin, of Quakertown, and Maribeth Meyer, at home; three grandchildren, Ashley and Joey Lucas and Brady Martin; nieces and nephews, Michael Stock, Allison Manderino, Eric and Mark Stock. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Saint John the Baptist Church, 915 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville. Reverend David J. Loeper will officiate. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass at the church. Interment will be held in Saint John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, Schuylkill Unit, c/o mesothelioma research, 16 North 4th Street, Minersville, PA 17954 or Saint John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.
