George L. Sweitzer

George L. Sweitzer, 78, died on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Nancy L. (Burger) Sweitzer. Services for Mr. Sweitzer are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on December 5, 1942 in Canoe Creek, he was a son of the late Jacob E. and Bessie (Sine) Sweitzer. George was a dock worker for Consolidated Freightways for over 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Sweitzer was a member of the Hawk Gunning Club and the Thirteenth Ward Political Club. He enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, old war and western movies, darts, shuffleboard and was in a pool league at the former Pub on the Trail. George is survived by his son, Eric Sweitzer and his wife, Carol of York; two daughters, Tammy Schapansky and her husband, Gary of Loris, SC and Sherrie Gayman of York; four grandchildren, Ashley, Bethany, Gary and Shelby; two great granddaughters, Laken and Delilah; step son, Kenneth Hannah; step daughter, Melissa Price; and 12 brothers and sisters both living and deceased.
