George K Mountz

LEWISBERRY- George Kauffman Mountz, 83, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was the husband of Virginia Joyce (Amolsch) Ostrander Mountz and the late Barbara A. (Ross) Mountz, who passed away in 2011. He and Virginia celebrated their third wedding anniversary on March 1, 2017. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Lane in York, with a viewing from 2-3:30p.m. His pastors, The Reverend Kent Vandervort and The Reverend Bayse “Bud” Reedy will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Tri County Memorial Gardens in Lewisberry. Mr. Mountz was born in Reading, PA on March 27, 1934, the son of the late Kauffman E. and Kathryn E. (Hoffman) Mountz. He retired January 3, 1996 from the Mechanicsburg Naval Department of Defense where he was employed as a Systems Programmer. A long-time member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene in York, Mr. Mountz served on the church board, building committee, and was active in mentoring men through archery, hunting, and outdoor events. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He lived a life of purpose and was a generous friend to many. Mr. Mountz leaves two sons, Ross E. Mountz of Quakertown and Neil A. Ostrander and his wife Joan of Mechanicsburg; three daughters, Vicki L. Brenneman and her husband Brian of Graham, NC, Deborah S. Reed and her husband Robert of Loveland, CO, and Angela D. Mitchell of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Mountz and his wife Nancy of Elverson, PA.
