George J. Alexiou

Mountaintop- George J. Alexiou, 80, of Mountaintop, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Friday evening at Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre. He was born on February 16, 1928 in New York City; he was the son of the late John and Efstratia (Mbakalatzis) Alexiou. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He retired from D and D Construction, Hanover Township. George was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre and of AHEPA. He is survived by a son, John, Mountaintop, a daughter Eva Reo, Philadelphia, a brother Gus, Chambersburg, two sisters, Mary Alexiou, Mountaintop, and Stella Deakos, Dale City, VA, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Father George Dimopoulos will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
