George I. Holton

JACOBUS - George I. Holton, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Anne (Light) Holton to whom he was married for 54 years on June 30, 2010. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating at the service. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Born August 26, 1929 in Bellows Falls, VT, a son of the late Charles B. and Elizabeth (Bartlett) Holton, he was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School, Dean College, and University of Vermont. He retired from his position in agriculture chemical sales from Bayer Corp. after more than 20 years of service. Following his retirement from Bayer, Mr. Holton had worked at Helena Chemical Company. Mr. Holton was a member of the Jewish Community Center, was a PIAA Football official for 30 years, and was active with the Penn State Univ. Agronomy Club. He also served in the US Army Reserves. In addition to his wife, Mr. Holton is survived by a daughter, Lesley A. and husband Edward Trump of Mechanicsburg; two sons, Dana A. Holton of Jacobus and Bradley S. Holton of Little River, SC; four grandchildren, Christopher Holton, Joshua, Adam, and Julia Trump; and a brother, James and wife Barbara Holton of S. Venice, FL. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Holton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
