York—George F. Ellis, 82, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of Annabelle A. (Snyder) Ellis, to whom he was married 57 years. A celebration of life service will be held private at the convenience of family. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born September 27, 1926 in Windsor, he was a son of the late Walter F. and Nettie B. (Anderson) Ellis. He was employed with Yorktowne Kitchens for 19years and later worked with Kapri Kitchens for 5 years, until his retirement in 1989. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. A life member of the Red Lion American Legion, Vietnam Vets Post #35, Red Lion V.F.W. and the Red Lion Elks, he was also a member of Dallastown American Legion and Bethany Untied Methodist Church in Red Lion. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ellis is also survived by, three brothers, Trabert H. Ellis and his wife, Darlene, of York, Joseph E. Ellis and his wife, Jean, of Red Lion and Clarence E. Ellis and his wife, Doris, of Dallastown, brother-in-law, Emory Druck, and his wife, Cynthia of Red Lion, and nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Arlene Ellis, Charmaine Grim and Fern Druck, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 44 Bowman Rd, York, Pa 17404 or Lebanon Veterans Hospital, 1700 South Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, Pa 17042.
