George E. Walker, Iii

LEWISBURG - George E. Walker, III, 60, went home to be with his heavenly father after he lost his yearlong battle with cancer on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Lewisburg on March 22, 1956 and was the son of the late George E. Walker, Jr. and Sarah J. (Smith) who survives. On July 29, 1978 George married the former Kimberly J. (Starks). They celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this past year. George attended Trinity United Methodist Church, New Columbia and was a lifetime member of the White Deer Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Captain of the Fire Police. He was currently employed with NGC Industries, New Columbia where he had worked for 31 years. Prior to that he worked for Zenith, Watsontown and H. Warshaw & Sons, Milton. George was an avid Penn State fan and loved to walk his two dogs; Buddy and Jake, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his mother and wife, George is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Kristy J. and Michael Dreisbach of Lewisburg and Heather N. Walker of New Columbia, three grandchildren; Kaylee Boyer, Morgan Dreisbach and Sharee Walker, his mother-in-law; Lois I Starks of Watsontown, one Brother-in-law; Barry Starks of New Columbia, two sisters-in-law; Gloria Yanney and Lorie Sheatler both of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, George was preceded in death by one brother; Gary “Frog” Walker, Father-in-law; Richard Starks, one brother-in-law; Richard C. Starks and one sister-in-law; Sharee Snyder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the White Deer Volunteer Fire Department, 366 Cemetery Street, New Columbia, PA 17856. A memorial service for George is scheduled for 5:00p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 257 Third Street, New Columbia, PA 17856 with pastor Robert Rice officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street Milton.
