George E. Simonson

YORK- George Edwin Simonson, 75, of York, passed away February 11, 2019, at home after a long, courageous battle with ALS. Born May 20, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of the late George and Gertrude Simonson. George is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; three daughters Kathleen (Christopher) Fenton, Patricia (Thomas) Waranavage, and Christine (Daniel) Simonson; six grandchildren Connor and Alicia Fenton, Katelyn and Jack Waranavage, Atticus and Georgia Simonson; and a sister, Eileen (Richard) Zeitler. A 1965 graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology, George was employed as a mechanical engineer for the York Division of Borg-Warner/York International/Johnson Controls for almost 43 years. He faithfully attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown for more than four decades. An avid golfer, George celebrated two holes in one during his decades on the links. George was well known for his quick wit, endearing sense of humor, gentle spirit, and love for his family. Funeral arrangements will be private.
