George E. Morningstar

RED LION George E. Morningstar, 86, died at 5:28 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008 at his home, with his companion, Crystal M. Nispel by his side. His wife, Alma R. Morningstar, preceded him in death in 1996. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Steven Schmuck of Red Lion Bible Church officiating. Burial with full military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Morningstar was born September 20, 1921, in York. He was the son of the late George T. and Mary Rebecca (Kauffman) Morningstar. He was a plumber, retiring from the maintenance department of the former Zell Brothers in Red Lion after 20 years of service. He had also worked in the maintenance departments of the former Colonial Products and Redco Corporation in Red Lion and had been a plumber with the former Knisley Plumbing in Windsor. He attended both church and church functions at Red Lion Bible Church. He served as a Marine Corps Staff Sergeant during World War II in both the American and Pacific Theaters of Operation and was a member of the Red Lion American Legion Post. In addition to his companion, Mr. Morningstar also leaves a son, Barry A. Morningstar of York; a brother, Jack Morningstar of Mt. Wolf; a sister, Nancy J. Bowser of Wellsboro; and nieces and nephews. Another brother, Robert L. Morningstar, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Ave., York, PA 17403.
