George E. Couch, Jr.

YORK – George E. Couch, Jr., 72, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy. He was the loving husband of Betty L. (Markel) Couch.

All services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., in York is assisting with arrangements.

Born April 28, 1949 in Hollidaysburg, PA. He was a son to the late George E. and Sarah P. (Rhoades) Couch, Sr. In January of 1969, George went in the Army, where he worked as a Programmer Analyst for many years. Throughout his life, held many different jobs, but his favorite was owning County Garden Markets. In his free time, you could find George researching genealogy, building puzzles, and working on computers. In the fall, George enjoyed going for a drive and seeing the beauty of the changing leaves, and in the winter time he loved to look at Christmas lights.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Couch is survived by a daughter, Diana J. Yohn and her husband Jeff; two grandchildren, Jacob A. Yohn and Zachary A. Yohn; two brothers, Duane D. “Punk” Couch and his wife Annh, Byron Meghan and his wife Freda; a sister, Gloria Noonan; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Couch is preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Gray, and Faye Hannah.
