George C. Poff

NEWPORT BEACH, CA- George Calvin Poff, 94, formerly of York, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. He was the husband of the late Edith J. (Kibler) Poff. There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Pastor Lisa Hair will be officiating at the service. Mr. Poff was born in Hellam on May 28, 1924, the son of the late Clarence and Annie (Sipe) Poff. He worked as a truck driver for various companies over the years retiring from Mason Dixon Trucking. He was a member of the Teamsters, local 430. Mr. Poff leaves two daughters, Sandra Y. Muran of California and Geraldine Shaffer of Spring Grove; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; three brothers, Clair, Bobby and Brian Poff; and two sisters, Doris Howard and Arlene Niedzielski. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Millard Poff and three sisters, Charlotte Messersmith, Pauline Miller and Mary McCauley.
