ETTERS - Geoffrey Archer known to many as “Coach” for his devotion to coaching rugby, passed away on July 8, 2020. Geoffrey was loved by all that were fortunate enough to have known him. Geoffrey was born in 1933 in Mirfield, England and married Betty Senior from Dewsbury, England. Geoffrey and Betty had two children, Christopher N. Archer and Susan K. Archer, who live locally in PA. Geoffrey was a pioneer in the textile industry. He moved with his wife from the UK to Canada then the United States to Manhattan, New York to be partners in a textile company. Besides textiles, Geoffrey’s passion was to play and coach rugby. Geoffrey became well known for training coaches, as well as, coaching adult and university level rugby in the north east US and then when in his seventies the West Shore United Rugby team in Mechanicsburg. Geoffrey was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved his daughter-in law Marilen Archer. His granddaughter Samantha Archer attends Purdue University and his grandson will attend Chatham University. Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements.
