WEST BURLINGTON- Genevieve Jennie (Wilk) Shames, 92 of Springfield, PA passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Bradford County Manor. She was the wife of the late Abe Shames. The couple married April 22, 1962 and had many happy years together. Jennie was born on December 29, 1917 in Bayonne, NJ, daughter of the late Simon and Mary (Levis) Wilk. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, was a caretaker of St. Anns and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Churches, and was a member of the Alter Rosary Society of the parish. In her younger years, Jennie was a fashion model and designer, but later became a homemaker, but moreover was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Jennie is survived by her son Wasyl Charles (Arlene) Berezansky of Brighton, NJ, her daughter Betty Ann Graley of Springfield, PA, her daughter-in-law Anita Skaggs of Delaware, her grandsons: Kevin (Joan) Berezansky, Doug (Lisa) Berezansky, Stephen (Karen) Berezansky, Gary (Donna) Graley, Steve (Mary) Graley, William Graley, Michael Graley, her great grandchildren: Tara, Eon, Joey, Ryan, Jenna, Stephen, Andrew, Zach, Heather, Chelsea, Katelyn, Samantha, Colleen, Sarah, Sonya, and Sarah, and her great great grandchildren: Eon and Carter, her brother Julius (Ella) Wilk of Manville, NJ, and sister Violet McGure of Sebring, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Abe, her sisters: Helen Ashby, Bertha Fleming, Wanda Batcheck, and Jeannie Assumpko, and her brother John Wilk. Family and friends are welcome to call from 9:00-10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11:00 AM on November 23rd at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ridgebury, PA, with Father Vincent F. Langan officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the churchs cemetery. After the burial there will be a time for fellowship and food at the St. Anns social hall. Memorial contributions may be made in Jennies memory to the charity of ones own choosing.
