Genevieve H. Christ

POTTSVILLE- Genevieve H. Christ, 84, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home. Born in Frackville on February 15, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Stavinsky) Zelonis. She was a graduate of Frackville High School. She was a member of ST. John The Baptist Church, Pottsville. Genevieve and her sister, Betty, were the owners of the Norwegian Café in Pottsville. In her early years, Genevieve loved to work in her garden. She loved to cook and play bingo. She was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State fan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Michael Takach; second husband, John Christ; 7 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her loving son, Thomas S. Takach, husband of Rosemary of Pottsville; grandson, David M. Takach and great-granddaughter, Jordan Takach; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. The Reverend David J. Loeper will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Frackville. Friends may call Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville.
