Genevieve (Fletcher) Weed

EAST SMITHFIELD, PA and VICINITY- The death angel that seemed to have been hovering over our neighborhood the past two weeks and removed from our midst on Sunday, April 15, 2007 Mrs. Genevieve (Fletcher) Weed, 93, resident of the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington. She was the widow of the late Lawrence E. Weed who preceded her seven years ago into the spirit land. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA, from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, and again from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18th. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on April 18th at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Union Cemetery in East Smithfield, PA. Genevieve was born on March 25, 1914 in East Smithfield, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Worden) Fletcher. Genevieve was a homemaker, but more than that was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a very hard workingwoman who treasured her family above all else. She adored her grand and great grandchildren. Genevieve enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, and yard work. She loved flowers, especially geraniums. Genevieve was among those who patiently endured the hardships of being poor her entire life. Genevieve is survived by her sons: Larry (Florence) Weed of Sugar Run, PA, David (Violet) Weed of East Smithfield, PA, Joseph (Frances) Weed of RD 1 Milan, PA, and Robert (Cathy) Weed of Towanda, PA, ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, and her sister Jeanette Fletcher. Genevieve's family would like to thank the Troy Community hospital and staff, the Bradford County Manor and staff for all the care and concern shown to Genevieve over the years.
