Genevieve A. (Winslow) Wintermute

WELLSBURG- Genevieve A. (Winslow) Wintermute, 83, of Gillett, PA, passed away and went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. She was the wife of the late Earl C. Wintermute who passed away on March 9, 2010. The couple married September 7, 1947 and had 62 wonderful years together. Genevieve was born on November 26, 1929 in Laceyville, PA, daughter of the late Ernest and Ina (Howland) Winslow. Genny and Earl moved around a bit after they were married as newlyweds do, but quickly settled in at a farm in Gillett. Besides milking cows and bailing hay, Genny worked for the Elmira Knitting Mill, Newberry’s Store, and was a nurse’s aide at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She loved to sew, crochet, play scat, and chat with people. Genny was a very active member of the Bentley Creek Baptist Church and never missed church or Sunday School. She always wore a beautiful smile, gave big hugs, and never ever complained. Genevieve is survived by her children: Nancy (John) Lattimer, Beverly (Fred) Smith, Mike (Norine) Wintermute, Dan (Denise) Wintermute, all of Gillett, PA, Steve (Linette) Wintermute of Gillett, PA, and Chris (Kanae) Wintermute of Tokyo, Japan, 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, her siblings:Gertrude Purcell Nowlan of Gillett, Robert Winslow of Jacksonville, FL, Bernard Winslow of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Betty (Romain) Salesman of Spring Hill, PA, sister-in-law Joan Wintermute of Sayre, along with several nieces and nephews. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, her son Gerald, and her granddaughter Wendy Lattimer. Family and friends may call from 6-8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY. The funeral service to honor Genevieve’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 28th at the funeral home with her pastor, Rev. James Ellis, and her son-in-law, Rev. John Lattimer officiating. Burial will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Genevieve’s memory to the Bentley Creek Baptist Church 13545 Berwick Turnpike Gillett, PA 16925 or to the church’s missionary society at the same address.
