Geneva O. (Tull) Williams

Wilkes-Barre-Geneva O. Williams, 86, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday evening at The Laurels, Kingston. Born in Wattsville, VA on March 10, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Miles) Tull. She was a graduate of G.A.R. High School. Prior to retiring, she was employed by Wyoming Valley Garment as a machine operator for 35 years. Mrs. Williams was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she was Mother of the Church and a former First Lady of Mount Zion and member of the Missionary Society. She also served as Deaconess, Sunday School teacher and Pastor's Aid. She was the founder of the Junior Ushers. She was also a Foster Grandparent; volunteered with the Pink Ladies at General Hospital; served as the Chairperson for the Special Olympics at Penn State and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active with Feed A Friend and the Domestic Violence Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, The Reverend Thomas B. Williams. 14 siblings also preceded her in death. Surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren and close friends. Homegoing services will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Michael E. Brewster officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Friday even from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre is in charge of arrangements.
