YORK-Geneva (Deyton) Lauer, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of Russell C. Lauer. The couple would have observed their 61st wedding anniversary on Saturday, February 5, 2011. A celebration of life service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 at Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Lane, York, with her pastor, the Rev. Bayse H. Reedy officiating. Viewings will be held 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York and 12-1:00 p.m. Monday at the Church. Burial will follow the church service at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Mrs. Lauer was born January 26, 1923 in Johnson City, TN, a daughter of the late Harrison B. and Bunia (Arrowood) Deyton. She was a member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene. She was also a former member of the Christian Womens Club where she was an officer for many years, and a local Womens Singing Club. When she was younger, she taught Sunday school at Christian Missionary Alliance Church and sang in their choir. She enjoyed reading Christian literature and womens social magazines; and tending to her flower garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lauer is survived by a son, Stephen L. Lauer and wife, Brenda L. of Hellam; two grandchildren, Kelly L. Lauer of West Chester, and Phillip Nenninger Lauer of Hellam; a brother, Granville Jackson Deyton and wife, Nancy of W. York; a sister, Marie Winemiller of York; a brother-in-law, Merle Kopp of Wanyesboro; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Effie Kopp. Memorial contributions may be made to Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, Family in Need Fund.
