Geneva A. (Schmoke) Hess

RENOVO - Geneva A. (Schmoke) Hess, 86, Farwell passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Altoona Regional Hospital due to injuries incurred from a one vehicle accident returning from a day at camp. She was born August 29, 1926 in Pottersdale the daughter of the late Kline and Stella (Moore) Schmoke. Geneva was married to Wilbert F. Hess, Sr. who died in 1979. She worked as a custodian for Bucktail Area High School after several years retiring in 1991. She enjoyed spending time at the family camp that her and her late husband built. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, quilting and craft making. Surviving are two sons Wilbert F. “Toby” (Bonnie) Hess and John R. (Nancy) Hess both of Renovo. Three grandchildren Brenda, Beth and Wendy and seven great-grandchildren. Two brothers Orville Schmoke and Jan Schmoke both of Pottersdale. Three sisters Roberta Firestone of Pottersdale, Phoebe Borger of Moshannon and Charlene Bennett of Rochester Mills. Several brothers and sisters preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo with Pastor Janis Heiser officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at North Bend Cemetery.
