Gene L. Frey

YORK – Gene L. Frey, 83, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of Joan M. (McKinley) Frey with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on March 2nd.

A graveside tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Canadochly Cemetery, 4845 E. Prospect Road, York with full military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and family are encouraged to meet at the cemetery at 1:45PM. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.

Born June 21, 1940 in York, a son of the late James and Tillie (Tome) Frey, Gene retired from Caterpillar Inc. He was a member of Kreutz Creek Valley VFW and Craley Fish and Game. Gene was an avid outdoorsman and storyteller. He was a US Army veteran where served in the 82nd Airborne Division.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Frey is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Frey of Red Lion and Gina Frey-Jones and husband Tim of Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Jamie Frey; three sisters, Dorcas, Frances, and Jane; and a nephew, Randy Elfner who was like a brother to Gene.
