Gary R. Barto

YORK – Gary R. Barto, 68, passed away peacefully July 17, 2023 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Karen L. (Revay) Barto to whom he was married for over 44 years.

Born November 13, 1954 in Monaca, he was the son of Stewart Barto and Betty (Dockter) Barto.

After graduating high school, Mr. Barto joined the US Air Force to serve our country. After his honorable discharge, he attended computer school. This landed him an occupation in I.T. He began working with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in the I.T. department and then joined the US Navy with his intelligence. In his free time, Gary loved spending time with his family and was a very avid dog lover. He also enjoyed card games, sports, Mickey Mouse and was known for being an incredibly hard-working, providing man.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Karen L. Barto; as well as their two sons, Aaron Barto and his wife, Samantha, Matthew Barto and his wife, Megan; two grandchildren Ian and Revay; a sister, Cindy Barto; a niece, Brittany; his dog-son Daltry; and his three grand-dogs Meatball, Duncan and Gozer.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, will be assisting the family with arrangements.
