Gary M. O'Neil

THOMASVILLE - Gary M. O'Neil, of Paradise Twp., died Wednesday morning, January 7, 2009, at Hanover Hospital. He was 61. A service to celebrate Mr. O'Neil's life will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewing will be 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday. A private family burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Mr. O'Neil was born June 30, 1947, in York. He was the son of the late Charles A. O'Neil, Jr. and the late Inez (Detwiler) Whiteleather. He was a life-long truck driver working with Wagman Construction Co. for many years. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the West York VFW Post and the Pleasureville American Legion Post. He was also a member of the Hawks Club. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time at hunting camp in Cameron County. Mr. O'Neil is survived by his son, Shane M. O'Neil and wife, Leesa of Dover; his two grandchildren, Kylie and Dylan O'Neil; his brother, William "Willie" Weist of Spring Grove; his sister, Amy Shouck of York; and his former wife, Donna L. O'Neil of York. Special thanks are also extended to Sue and Ken Kline for the loving care provided to Mr. O'Neil.
