Gary L. Kling, a cherished individual who touched the lives of many, passed away on September 26, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the life partner of Carolyn Y. Paup, to whom they shared their lives with for 20 years.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM located at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Rd., Dallastown, with Pastor Eric Rightenour officiating the service. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 10-11:00 AM. York County Veterans Honor Guard will be performing military honors.

Born on November 13, 1941 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Luther C. and Erma A. (Fox) Kling.

Gary’s educational journey began at Palmyra High School, from which he graduated in 1959. He then pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor's degree in History from Lebanon Valley College, followed by a Master's degree in Science from Penn State University. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to education remained evident throughout his life.

A man of service, Gary dedicated over ten years to the Army, achieving the rank of Captain while serving during the Vietnam War. This period of his life not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor.

After his military service, Gary embarked on a fruitful career as a Garden Center Supplies Salesman for Arett Sales, where he shared his love of gardening with others. After leaving Arett Sales, he was employed at Farrells Nursery in Dover as the manager of their water garden department. Following his retirement, he continued to nurture his passion by working at Home Depot's Garden Department. His role in these establishments allowed him to engage with fellow gardening enthusiasts and impart his knowledge to a new generation of gardeners.

Gary was an avid flower gardener, finding joy and solace in cultivating blooms and nurturing nature's beauty. His green thumb was well-known among friends and family, and his garden stood as a testament to his dedication and creativity.

Alongside his passion for gardening, Gary was proud to serve as a Sunday School Teacher and Worship Leader at Codorus Church of the Brethren, where he made a significant impact on the spiritual lives of many in his community. His commitment to teaching and leadership reflected his nurturing spirit and deep faith.

Gary is survived by his life partner, Carolyn Y. Paup of Windsor; his step-daughter Melinda Billet and her husband Joe of Lower Windsor; and his cherished step-grandchildren, Patrick, Logan, and Kyle. He also leaves behind his brother, Donald Kling and wife Baerbel of Florida, and his nephew, Roger Kling and wife Mary of Florida. He was preceded in death by his beloved Uncle Walt Fox.

Gary L. Kling will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and community but also for the kindness and warmth he shared with all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and commitment to gardening will continue to flourish in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
