Gary E. Hess

SEVEN VALLEYS - Gary E. Hess, 83, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Judith A. Hess to whom he was married for 64 years.

A Viewing for Gary will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Interment will be private at Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus.

Born March 4, 1942 in York, Gary was a son of the late Allen J. and Rebecca C. (Hoke) Hess. While finishing his high school education from William Penn High School, class of 1960, Gary worked for Pfaltzgrafh. He then went on to work at Coin Laundry, and Noonan Construction, and then joined the Carpenter Union to work at Three Mile Island, and later retiring from Kinsley as a construction superintendent in 2002. Gary was a member of Tunnel Hill Gun Club, Prince Athletic Club, South Democratic End Club, and the Lazy Rest Hunting Camp. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, motorcycles, crafting furniture and he was quite a good artist.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gary leaves behind a daughter, Christine Hess; five grandchildren, Jessica Kinsley, Rebecca Zeller, Katelyn Kinsley, Zac Kinsley, and James Kinsley; and 11 great grandchildren. Gary is preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Kinsley; and a brother, Terry Hess.
