Gary D. Hemerly, Sr. POTTSVILLE-Gary D. Hemerly, Sr., 60, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday morning at his residence. Born in Lynnport, PA, on April 27, 1948, he was a son of the late Earl and Marion Kershner Hemerly. He attended Hamburg schools. He was a marine veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He worked for Berks Products, Reading as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Pottsville; he was a member of the Amvets, Pottsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Shawn Body. Gary is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Purcell Hemerly, of Pottsville, to whom he was married 40 years on October 5th; his son, Gary D. Hemerly, Jr., husband of Lacie, of Pottsville; his Grandson, Devyn Hemerly; his brother, Earl Hemerly, husband of Linda, of Shartlesville, PA; his sister, Joyce Hemerly, of Exeter, PA; his nephew, George Purcell, husband of Tracey; his three nieces, Angela Purcell, Sonya Hemerly and Melissa Schappell, wife of Jeremy. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 9:30 A.M. in St. Patrick's church, Pottsville. Friends may call from 8:30 A.M. until time of Mass at the Church. Interment with Marine Military Honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Patrick's Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
