YORK—Gary Baird, 71 passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at his residence in West Manchester Township. A Graveside Service open to all who wish to attend will be held at 11:30AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Rd, Owings Mills, Maryland, 21117. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born April 11, 1950 in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Albert and Nelda (Dodson) Baird. He was employed for the last 15 years of his welding career with Harley-Davidson Inc., until his retirement in 2010. A United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was also an avid Harley Davidson and Hot Rod enthusiast who was dedicated to building, restoring and riding. He enjoyed painting, drawing and making stained glass. Liked spending time camping, sitting around the fire in his backyard, smoking cigars and listening to blues, classic rock and big band music. Mr. Baird is survived by his daughter, Allison E. Baird-Cuomo and husband, David of Columbia, MD; one brother, David Baird of Altoona; one sister, Debbie Miller of Altoona; spouse, Myra M. (Polansky) Baird of Hampstead, MD; father-in-law, Edward Ditch and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Baird.
