YORK - Garry L. Hursh, 61, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Melody L. (Oberdorff) Hursh to whom he was married for 36 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2185 Windsor Rd., Windsor with Pastor Butch Snyder officiating. A viewing will be held from 12-2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born November 7, 1948 in York a son of Paul and Virginia (Schnetzka) Hursh of York, he was a 1966 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. He then completed his machinist apprenticeship with the former Flinchbaugh Products. Mr. Hursh worked for Campbell Chain, a division of Cooper Tools, for the past 37 years. He was a member of the Red Lion American Legion; the Red Lion Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where he was active in their dart league; and Emmanuel U.M. Church. Mr. Hursh was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hursh is survived by three daughters, Holly L. and husband Chris Wirt of Euless, TX, Hilary L. Hursh of Morristown, NJ, and Leslie L. Hursh of York; and a sister, Linda and husband Glenn Rexroth, Sr. of Dallastown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel U.M. Church, PO Box 341, Windsor, PA 17366 or to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 East Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
