DALLASTOWN—Freeman Preston “Red” Kinard, 95, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane (Arnold) Kinard who passed away June 9, 2007.
Born August 8, 1927 in Martinsville, Lower Windsor Twp, he was the son of the late Emory and Mary A. (Rudy) Kinard.
“Red” as he was fondly known, graduated from Red Lion High School in 1946. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War from 1952-1954, serving on tour of duty in Germany.
Freeman retired in 2007 from House of Windsor. Prior to that he was employed by the former York International Corp., where he worked from 1969-1982.
Mr. Kinard is survived by a son, Roger Kinard of Dover; a daughter, Juanita Bupp of Spring Grove; three grandchildren, Katie Bupp of Mountville, Jesse Geisinger and husband, Kurt of Dover and Jacob Kinard of Montana; one great grandson, Samuel Geisinger and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rhodessa Conrad and Rosetta Waltermeyer and son-in-law, Abraham F. Bupp III.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited for a time of visitation from 9-10AM, Wednesday October 5, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 10AM. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Allison Duke. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made too Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Salvation Army—York or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to express a special thanks to York Hospital Emergency Dept and their staff at North 3A, as well as Hospice & Community Care, VA Medical Center, Dr. Danilo Diaz and Dr. Rocco Arcieri.
