YORK – Frederick W. Warner, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 22, 2011 at York Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the fiancé of Jane A. Wiertel and husband to the late Linda L. (Fregm) Warner. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with The Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. A viewing will be held from 4-8:00 PM Tuesday and a visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites provided by Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard. Born September 6, 1937 in York a son of the late Roland “Red” and Ruth (Smith) Warner, he was a 1955 graduate of Red Lion High School. Mr. Warner retired from York Building Products in 1997 after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of Dallastown American Legion Post 605, Victory Athletic Assoc., PA Bottle Collectors Assoc., and a life member of Hellam VFW Post 7045. Fred loved boating and was active with the Bush River Yacht Club and TOBCA. He also enjoyed golfing, aviation, and traveling. Mr. Warner was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his fiancé, Mr. Warner is survived by two daughters, Angela M. and husband Joseph Zavacky of Nazareth, PA and Valarie E. and husband Robin Shenberger of York; two sons, Gregory L. and wife Sarah Warner of Fairfield and Jeffrey A. and wife Deborah Warner of Pittsburgh; three stepdaughters, Lisa M. and husband Mark Harlacker of Red Lion, Lori A. Jacobs of York, and Cindy A. Grove of Red Lion; a stepson, Eric J. and wife Donice Wiertel of Red Lion; 18 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Warner Orwig; and four brothers, Robert, Richard, Eugene, and Ronald Warner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fred’s name may be made to York Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd., Suite 194, York, PA 17403 or to Dallastown American Legion, 57 W. Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313.
