Frederick James Mitchell

WELLSBURG- Frederick James Mitchell, 76, of Lowman, NY, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. He was the loving husband of Helen (Kolivoski) Mitchell. The couple married in November of 1961 and had 49 happy years together. Fred was born on October 31, 1936 in New York City, NY, son of the late Robert and Rachel (Parker) Mitchell. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a construction worker for Streeter’s Construction in Elmira, NY, and enjoyed hunting and raising rabbits. Fred is survived by his wife Helen; sons, Fred (Michele McCann) Mitchell of Gillett, PA, Donald (Donna Austin) Hatch of Erin, NY; daughters, Michele (Donald Cina) Mitchell of Elmira, NY, Donna (Cecil) Roote of Elmira, NY; grandchildren Allen (Bobbi) Roote of Horseheads, NY and Cheryl (Kal) Harrington of Springboro, OH; great grandchildren Kaitlyn Roote, Matthew and Aaron Harrington, and McKenzie McCann; brothers Albert Mitchell of Ridgebury, PA, and Robert (Elaine) Mitchell of Nenana, AK. Services are private and at the convenience of Fred’s family. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements. Donations may be made in Fred’s memory to the charity of one’s own choosing.
