Freda J. (Snell)Becker-Zahn-Richmond, 94, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Robert E. Richmond to whom she was married for 13 years and the late, Alvin Becker Jr., and Willard R. Zahn. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11am Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Fourth United Methodist Church, 1067 E. Market St., York. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Miguel H. Arenas. A visitation will be held from 10-11AM, Thursday at the church. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born November 15, 1923 in York, she was a daughter of the late Edward D. and Lottie M. (Hershner) Snell. She graduated from William Penn Senior High School, Class of 1943. Following graduation she was employed as a private secretary for David F. Swartz, Ben G. Helsel, Industrial Real Estate. She was a loving and dedicated homemaker. She was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church, which later merged with Fourth United Methodist Church. While at Trinity she served as secretary to the Board of Trustees, served on the Church Council and secretary to the Pastor-Parrish Committee and teaching various children’s Sunday school and Bible school classes. She also volunteered at Pleasant Acres, was a member of Shiloh Homemakers and the Normandie Ridge Auxillary. Mrs. Becker-Zanh-Richmond is also survived by one daughter, Linda K. Ehrman and husband, William A. of Jacobus; two granddaughters, Amy L. Jones and husband, Norman E. of Mt. Wolf and Krista E. Shorts and husband, Brian K. of Jacobus; five great grandchildren, Kameron, Miley, and Madden Shorts and Adan and Allyson Jones and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Kathryn Roser and Dunnick Snell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, ATTN: Office for Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 or Fourth United Methodist Church, 1067 E. Market Street, York, Pa 17403. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at York Hospital and Hospice & Community Care.
