DOVER-Fred H. Page, 84, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Leah T. Page to whom he was married to for 56 years on November 20, 2010. A celebration of life memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Rev. Barbara Barry officiating with a flag folding provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation with the family will be held immediately following the service. Mr. Page was born April 9, 1926 in Stoneham, MA, a son of the late Harold Nelson Ewertz and Evelyn Page. He attended Penn State College and furthered his education by becoming an accredited teacher. Mr. Page took his knowledge of teaching and became a well loved machine maintenance teacher at York County Vocational Technical School for 19 years, where he was affectionately known by his students as Uncle Fred. Mr. Page was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 556 and the American Legion Post 799. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, inventing clever new devices, working in his gardens, and spending time with his family and beloved dogs. In his younger years he often worked on race cars. In addition to his wife, Mr. Page is survived by two sons, Steven E. Page and wife, Carrie of New Port Richey, FL, and Bradley A. Page of Dover; two daughters, Sandra P. Billman and husband, Eric of Washington, DC, and Carol A. Page of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Mitchell Swayze Page and Samantha Varie Page; and a sister Connie Starn and husband, John of Airville, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA, 17406.
