Frank Saylor, Sr.

YORK - Mr. Frank Saylor, Sr., 90, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of F. Mae (Fisher) Saylor for over 70 years. Visitations will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007 and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., both at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2007 at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Saylor was born June 27, 1916 in Cross Roads. He was the son on the late Lawrence and Sarah "Sallie" (Mitzel) Saylor. Mr. Saylor was self-employed as a plasterer for over 50 years until his retirement in 1980. His started a plastering business with his brother-in-law, Clair "Jack" Warner, and formed Saylor & Warner Plastering. Following Mr.Warner's retirement, Frank became partners with his son, John, and formed Saylor & Company Plastering. Mr. Saylor was a life member of the 9th Ward Republican Social Club, the Girard Athletic Association, and the Victory Athletic Association. He was an original member of the York County Fiddler's Association, Chairman of the Building Committee, and Past President. He was also an original member of the Big Chief Hunting Camp in Tioga County. Some of his favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening fruits and vegetables. In addition to his wife, Mae, Mr. Saylor also leaves four daughters; Yvonne "Vonnie" McClain and husband Larry of Brogue, Alma Kohler of York Haven, Daisy Siders of Dover, and Anona Morgan and husband Kenneth of York, three sons; John Saylor and wife Mary of Wellsboro, Charles Saylor and wife Barbara of Wilmington DE, and Jerome Saylor and wife Lisa of Wrightsville, seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a brother, Samuel "Sam" Saylor of Wellsboro, and a sister, Mabel Warner of York. He was also survived by nieces and nephews. Mr. Saylor was preceded in death by his son, Frank Saylor, Jr., a sister, Carrie Koller, and five brothers; Ivan, Earnest "Red", Wilbur, Ralph, and William "Bill" Saylor, and two sons-in-law; Charles Kohler and Richard Siders In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Avenue, Suite 208, York, PA 17401.
