WILKES-BARRE- Frank Green, 85, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Manorcare Hampton House, Hanover Twp. Born in Clyo, GA on December 7, 1923, he was a son of the late Franklin and Fronie (Polite) Green. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Prior to retiring, he was employed by New York City Parks and the New York Daily News. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Craig and brothers Lynwood and Woodrow. Surviving are his sons, Ronald Green, and Frank Green, Jr.; daughters, Stella Green; Niasha Simmons, Wilkes-Barre; April Simmons, Hanover Twp., Tawana Simmons, Nanticoke; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Iona Echols, MI and Ruthmae Tate, MI. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Wallace Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service.
