Frank G. Wolstenholme, Sr.

Frank G. Wolstenholme, Sr., 85, of the Flannery Apartments in Elmira NY, passed away on December 5, 2008 at the Towanda Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA. Frank was born on January 18, 1923 in Norwood, NY, the son of the late Frank and Eugenia (Leete) Wolstenholme. Frank married Betty H. Hennigan on February 20, 1946 at the Trinity Church, Potsdam, NY. Betty passed away June 7, 1981 at the age of 57. Frank retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company, Massena, NY in 1973 where he was a member of the 25 Year Club. Upon moving to Elmira, NY he was a caretaker for the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Elmira, NY for 26 years. He was also a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Frank's passion was the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Company, which he was a member and was honored with the Fireman of the Year Award in 1968. Frank is survived by his children; Roger (Kathy) Wolstenholme of Luthers Mills, PA, Frank (Janice) Wolstenholme of Palm Coast, FL, Sandra (Robert) Lilley of Port Saint Lucie, FL, and Sue Perrigo (Carol Wood) of Edgewood, MD, his grandchildren; Tammy Wolstenholme, Stephen (Alicia) Wolstenholme, Carmen (William) Kitts, Maxine (Kenneth) Fox, Wanda (Robert) Reeck, Robert (Lusette) Lilley, Jr., Kristina (Steve) McDearmont, Suzanne Perrigo, Barbara (William) Hemling, Heidi (Jason) Monro, Kristopher Wolstenholme, Amy (Corey) Dean, and 18 great grandchildren. Frank is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, his sisters; Helen Vanderburgh, Mabel Wilbur, Mary Smith, Ruth Reynolds, Ann Wolstenholme, his brothers; Lyle and Bernard Wolstenholme, and his special friend Hazel Rice. Family and friends are welcome to call from 12:30-1:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 380 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY. The memorial service to honor Frank's life will be held at 1:00 PM on December 12th at the church. Burial will follow the service in Wood Lawn Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made in memory of Frank to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 380 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 or to the Towanda Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit, RR 1 Towanda, PA 18848.
