Frank E. Dudley

WILKES-BARRE-Frank E. Dudley, 74, formerly of Hanover Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday evening, August 30, 2007, in Kingston Commons, Kingston, PA. Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 2, 1933, he was the son of Viola Houchens Dudley Barbour of Newport News, VA, and the late John Dudley. A graduate of G.A.R. High School, he was also an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Earlier in his life, Mr. Dudley attended Wilkes College and was also a certified welder. Along with his brother, Mr. Dudley was the owner of Dudley Demolition. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a janitor at the Wilkes-Barre Federal Credit Union. An avid runner, he competed in the Boston, New York City, and Marine Corps Marathons. He was ranked among the top ten runners in the country in his age bracket. He was a Golden Glove boxing champion and fought professionally for several years. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Daniel, John, and Carl. Surviving is his daughter, Nicole Dudley Budzak, Pittston; grandson, Gage Braden; brothers, Warren Dudley (Barbara), Newport News, VA; Andrew Dudley (Esther), Gloucester, VA; Myers Dudley, Wilkes-Barre; Sisters, Martha Medley (Morris), Wilkes-Barre; Estelle Gilliam (Charles), Newport News, VA; Gloria Alexander, Philadelphia, PA; Sisters-in-law, Velma Dudley, Newport News, VA; Fumiko Dudley, Wilkes-Barre. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 7, from 4:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hill Street, followed by a home-going service at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. Michael Brewster will officiate. The funeral procession will depart Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Professional services are entrusted to Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home,Inc. 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
