Frank C. Wessman

RED LION - Frank C. Wessman, 89, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Dallastown under care of Hospice. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Violet D. (Leavitt) Wessman, their son, Eric C. Wessman of Red Lion; two granddaughters, Stephanie and husband Daniel Bordner of Duncannon, PA and Erika and husband Jared Lokay of Montclair, NJ. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Wessman. Born January 11, 1933 in New York City; he was the son of the late Oscar C. and Mary E. (Leimbach) Wessman. Frank served one term in the US Navy as a musician where he played bassoon. Frank and Violet met in Chicago after his discharge and married March 5, 1955 having just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. On their 60th anniversary, Frank penned a sonnet stating at the end, “To look back at a lifetime, since when we first met, Jehovah can still tell us; ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet!’ ” Frank, along with his son Eric, owned and operated Auto Trim Services since 1976. He was an avid reader of English literature and favored the works of Shakespeare and anything about Winston Churchill. On Sundays Frank could be found watching the New York Giants games as the second generation of fans in his family. He was an active member of the Red Lion Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he served as an elder until his death. Frank originally served in New Jersey where he became a Ministry School Servant in 1961 and was subsequently appointed as an elder in 1973 while living in Tennessee before moving to Pennsylvania. It was Frank’s joy to share his hope for the future from the Bible with whomever he met, including writing letters to his neighbors, offering comfort and encouragement to all.
