Frank B. Snyder, Jr.

POTTSVILLE - Frank B. Snyder, Jr., 84, formerly of W. Norwegian St., Pottsville, passed away at Rest Haven Nursing Home early Monday morning. Frank would have been 85 years old on March 27th. Born in Pottsville, on March 27, 1925, Frank was the son of the late Frank B. and Grace Sherman Snyder, both of Pottsville. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum, Cressona, and also served on the Pottsville Police Department. He was a Navy combat veteran of World War II and proudly served in the Pacific Theater on the USS South Dakota. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He instilled his love of nature in his children and grandchildren. Family was always his priority. Frank was a life long member of the Freidensburg Rod and Gun Club, and a member of the Minersville Senior Citizens were he was an active member and enjoyed playing bingo. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, the late Olivette T. Walsh Snyder in October of 2001. He was also preceded in death by a sister Berta Sauers in 2009. Surviving are: four daughters, Frances Kimmel, wife of James, Schuylkill Haven, Sharon Thomas, wife of Steve, Orwigsburg, Theresa Cathell, Springfield VA, and Lori Pasiuk, wife of Joel, Woodbury, MN; 12 grandchildren, Stacey Bass, Jason Macunas, Ryan Murphy, Jessica Murphy, Shannon Rogers, Stephanie Thomas, Jennifer Cannon, Emily Cathell, Keith Cathell, Emma Pasiuk, Alison Pasiuk and Noah Pasiuk; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Dixon, of Schuylkill Haven, Nancy Garrity of California; a brother Jim Snyder, of Pottsville; nieces and newphews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 10 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating. Family and friends may call from 9 until time of service on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
